New Years Celebration

In the interest of keeping the blog updates, I thought I would post a quick one to let you know what we did on old year's eve.

The plans were made pretty late in the day, but a bunch of friends popped over for a little meal.  This was a meal with a difference, as all ingredients basically arrived at the house, hands got to work in the kitchen and a brilliant spread appeared on the counter, all in the time it took the guys to chill at the pool (I chilled at the pool, and not in it.  The pool water really is cold here).

From dinner, came Monopoly Deal.  For those who have not played this, get it.  I am not a fan of the board game, but the card game is an absolute blast.  Our game was rudely interrupted by a battlefield of fireworks.  The sky lit up on both sides of the house.  Fireworks in Makati and at Resorts World were visible from our balcony.  They went on for over an hour.

It literally sounded like a war zone (not that I've been in one, but the PS3 can give some indication).  Unfortunately, with all fun, comes a certain amount of responsibility which did seem to be lacking.  The stats are that one 10 year old died due to a fireworks accident.  The number of injuries seems to have been reported as two very different numbers.  One news site states 476 injuries, while another claims 712 injured from fireworks and 22 from "Celebratory Gunfire" (refer to my post on the Wild East.  It is definitely a reality).

Anyhow, below are some pics of our little dinner.

Keep well, God Bless and Happy New Year.
