Part 2 - Vesna arriving

The wait for the shuttle Well, after an awesome time travelling in California and a little in New York, it was time for me to head to the airport to meet Vesna.  Yip, she arrived this morning at 7am.  With her arrival comes the "Part 2" of the JIT adventure.   The day started with Vesna spending about 2 hours in customs, as the airport was pretty busy.  We then headed for the shuttle, where Ves was reminded of what cold weather was like.  Yip, after 2 seconds outside, we had to head back in for the scarf to be hauled out of the bag.  It was a pretty cold morning.

The official start of the tour will be tomorrow.  For those of you interested, there is a rough outline of what's happening for the next couple weeks.  Please pray for us for safe travels, discount food, clean hostels and of course, good fun.

The tour plan:

2008/03/18 Jump on the 10:55am plane to Miami and arrive at 2pm.  Head straight for the car rental company and begin the cruise to Key West.  We need lots of prayer for the hostel here, as it is not known to be the best, but when 2 hotel rooms would cost just under $300 for 1 night, the hostel is the best option.  That said, I will be sure to comment on the quality of the hostel once we have been there.
2008/03/19 Highlight of Key West.  Weather permitting, we will be doing the following.  This should take most of the day.  Afterwards, we will lurk around the Island, grab some chow, and then head back to Miami for a night out in South Beach.
2008/03/20 This is a chill day.  After the driving to Key West and all of that, we will probably just be chilling on the Beach for the day.  At midnight, we jump on a Greyhound bus bound for Orlando Florida.  This will give us 5 hours to sleep, and is a great way to save on accommodation (I know, I am cheap).
2008/03/21 Good Friday.  We arrive in Orlando and don't have much planned for the day.  We will be staying with some family friends, and will be going with them to church in the evening.  Their church is having a family type meal for Good Friday.
The "plan" for Orlando is to go to Seaworld, Disney and any other touristy things that can be done.
2008/03/25 Jump on a Greyhound at 10pm for Atlanta.  Again, we are sleeping on the bus, so hopefully it will be comfy.  We arrive in Atlanta early morning on Wednesday 26th, where we will pick up our car rental and head out to Andrews to visit the Maynards (Pastoral family in US who were missionaries in East London).  We will be going on a church camp with them, which should be good fun.  Unfortunately, six flags theme park is not open on the day we arrive in Atlanta, else that would definitely have been on the cards for a day at the roller coaster.
2008/03/31 Drop the car off in Atlanta and jump on a plane bound for New York.  We will be spending the rest of our time until 2008/04/10 in NYC, following which we will return to South Africa.  Here, we will do the standard touristy things (Statue of Liberty etc) as well as just chill and have a bit of a holiday.  Hopefully there is still some snow around so we can make a day trip out to ski.

Well, that's the basic plan.  I best be heading to bed, as I have some significant driving to do over the upcoming 2 days.  As mentioned previously, please pray for safe travels on the road and air and for some good food bargains, hostels etc.

Looking forward to sending some updated pictures and news.

Brad
